The UIA (International Union of Architects) and BUILDING FUTURES GULF by BATIMAT have associated together in the conduct of this confrence as increasing building performance in the Middle East is a common goal for both entities.
Speaking at the press conference to launch, BUILDING FUTURES GULF by BATIMAT, Gaëtan Siew, Président of the UIA said : “This is an ideal time for the Middle East to integrate the concept of “Whole Life Value” into construction projects. Although this means a higher initial investment cost, it also means enhanced durability and lower operation costs for the building”.
7 Presentations of 2 hours each (with 4 speakers) will be organized during the International Architects Conference by BUILDING FUTURES GULF and the UIA (International Union of Architects).

About UIA
The International Union of Architects UIA was founded in 1948 to offer an international platform for architects of all countries as a federation of national organizations. The UIA now represents some 1,500,000 architects in more than 125 countries. The mission of UIA is to represent all architectural organizations and individual architects of different countries, with parallel non-government organizations of other disciplines, and with intergovernmental institutions.

UIA
Every three years, the UIA brings together thousands of architects and students of architecture from all over the world. UIA focusses on a theme of current concern to the profession, highlights the issues with which the architects of the world are faced at a given point in time and debate the solutions they can provide while facilitating contacts and exchange among professionals from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities.
The next UIA Conference will take place in Turino from 29 June to 3 July 2008 on the theme: «transmitting architecture».

What led to the UIA's association with BUILDING FUTURES GULF by BATIMAT? 
This initiative is part of UIA's general strategy:
- To develop general policies for architecture on topics of high priorities such as Global Warming and Sustainable architecture.
- To share knowledge among architects.
- To address regional context issues and define appropriate policies.
- To interact with all stakeholders involved in the process, Institutions, Manufacturers, Builders, other professionals.
- To create awareness and obtain high visibility in the emerging countries.
What are the key topics that will be addressed during the conference you will organise at BUILDING FUTURES GULF by BATIMAT ? who are the speakers?
- Cooling Methodologies and Architectural applications with the use of RES.
- The use of cool materials in buildings and urban spaces.
- Buildings' natural ventilation.
- Identification of existing ventilation technologies for different types of buildings.
